Why "Emperor Prithviraj" failed? Director Chandraprakash Dwivedi wrote the story of Todi Chuppi - Sunny Deol
‘Samrat Prithviraj’ did poorly at the box office. Made on a budget of Rs 200 crore, this film was only able to earn Rs 63.50 crore in 12 days. There is some doubt as to whether the film’s lifetime earnings will even hit the Rs 75 crore mark. This is Bollywood’s “Khiladi” Akshay Kumar’s third film in 10 months, which has hit the box office. Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the director of the film, couldn’t beat the film about the life of India’s last Hindu king, Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan. In such a situation, the pain of the director spread. He says he still doesn’t understand why this condition of the movie happened after all. Not only that, he also made a lot of revelations about the making of this movie. Chandraprakash Dwivedi said in a chat with ‘Navbharat Times Online’ that he wrote the story for this movie for Sunny Deol 18 years ago. He was also going to produce the film, but the market did not support him.

Alongside Akshay Kumar, “Samrat Prithviraj” features veterans like Manushi Chillar, Sonu Sood, Sanjay Dutt, Manav Vij and Ashutosh Rana. The film was released on June 3 and from day one, audiences turned their backs on the film. In view of the vacant seats in the cinema, many shows also had to be canceled. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who returned to directing after almost 4 years, has alleged that his film was politically targeted. He says, “I wish historians would question this film or tell their story. Now, because you don’t want to hear the story in my opinion and therefore reject it outright, that’s totally wrong. History does not work that way.

“I don’t understand what the problem is with people”
Chandraprakash Dwivedi says: “Historians should have their debates outside the cinema hall. He should have seen the movie first. It should be maintained beyond religion and politics. This movie is not just about the power of Prithviraj. Speaking about the film’s reviews and reactions, he admits that he didn’t understand the public’s mood and problems. He says, “We made the movie on a grand scale. But people had problems. I still don’t understand what’s wrong with them. The authors have done their work with the utmost sincerity. We have not altered the facts of history. We understand this responsibility very well.

Said this about the casting of Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chillar
Questions have been raised from the start regarding the casting of ‘Samrat Prithviraj’. When casting Manushi Chillar, 30 years younger than Akshay Kumar in the lead role, Chandraprakash Dwivedi said, “You watch the old iconic TV shows. Those who were chosen there for the main role do not correspond to the real character either. Lord Krishna was dark complexioned, but the actors who played him on screen were fair. Prithviraj Kapoor played the role of Akbar, but he doesn’t look like Akbar out of nowhere. Every filmmaker sees Akshay with their own eyes. If you didn’t like the movie or its character, that’s okay. But it is wrong to start any agitation for this.

‘Emperor Prithviraj’ director Chandraprakash Dwivedi says – there was a ruckus when a movie was made about a Hindu king
There was a ruckus when a movie was made about a Hindu king: Chandraprakash Dwivedi
Speaking about social media criticism of ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, Chandraprakash Dwivedi says, “Whenever there is talk of a Hindu hero, there is an outcry. When we talk about Akbar, we say that his opposition is false. Everything Abul Fazal says is true, but what Chandbardai says is wrong? A story is found from the poetry on which the film is made. It is the job of historians to debate history. Those who want to make political bread, don’t make it controversial.
