Baap-Baap Hota Hai... Pakistan's PSL Stands Nowhere Before IPL, India's 'Dhan Kuber', The Stats Are Stunning
In a broadcast, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag had said about Shoaib Akhtar that there is a father-father and a son-son…. Sultan Veeru of Mustan had hit on this taunt linking Akhtar to Sachin Tendulkar but it was proven once again during IPL media rights auction. There can be no comparison between Indian Cricket League IPL and Pakistan Cricket League PSL.

The Indian Premier League, the world’s biggest cricket league, will receive 48,390 crore ($6.2 billion) from 2023 to 2027, according to the media rights agreement. In other words, an IPL match will be worth 118 crores. The television rights for the Indian subcontinent were purchased by Disney Star for Rs 23,575 crore (Rs 57.5 crore per game), but the digital rights went to Reliance’s Viacom 18 for Rs 20,500 crore. Viacom has also purchased a “non-exclusive” rights package C for Rs 2,991 crore. Packages A and B include 410 matches over the next five years (74 to 74 matches in 2023 and 2024, 84 matches in 2025 and 2026 and 94 matches in 2027).

IPL Media Rights Auction: Times Internet has also secured the broadcast rights from IPL, which owns the TV and mobile phone rights, know all the details
Package C included the rights to 18 “non-exclusive” matches, which Viacom18 bought for Rs 2,991.6 crore, or Rs 33.24 crore per match. There are 90 matches in this package. Package D contained overseas television and digital rights which Viacom18 and Times Internet bought for Rs 1,300 crore. On the other hand, if we talk about the Pakistan Cricket League, then there is no value of PSL in front of the amount like the mountain of IPL. The interesting thing is that while Pakistani cricketers are appealing to India to play cricket, the BCCI has banned players from neighboring countries from playing in the IPL.

How much did PSL receive
Pakistan cricket league, excluding IPL and bilateral cricket series due to border dispute and nefarious terrorist intentions, got only $24 million (then value in Indian currency was around Rs 166 crore) of a 2-year contract. He had struggled to finalize a two-year contract in 2021. A Sports and PTV Sports bought the rights for both seasons in a $24 million bid. The PCB gets around Rs 83 crore from 34 games of a PSL season.

The last time a bilateral series was played between the two teams was in 2012. Then Pakistan came to India to play. However, the two teams continue to face each other at ICC events. The game was played between the two teams recently at the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

IPL size increased like this
Star India was currently entitled to IPL rights for the 2017-2022 cycle. 16,347.50 crore was offered for both TV and digital as of September 2017. Previously, Sony Pictures Networks won the IPL TV media rights with an offer of Rs 8,200 crore for a 10-year term at the start of the tournament.
