IND vs SA: Captain Rishabh Pant's five decisions became reason for loss, Sunil Gavaskar, Ashish Nehra and Parthiv Patel made mistakes

The Indian team faced defeat in the second consecutive game of the T20 against South Africa. After that, the veterans questioned Captain Pant’s decisions. From Sunil Gavaskar to Ashish Nehra, Parthiv Patel and South African Graeme Smith were also surprised to see Rishabh Pant’s decisions. It is because of Pant’s bad decisions that India have to face defeat. Now veterans have fiercely ranked him.

Pant made several errors in the second match of the T20, thanks to which South Africa took advantage and India lost the game. Here we recount five of these errors.

1. Sent Akshar to bat before Karthik

Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer had put their team in a better position during India’s batting but the team was struggling after Pant and Pandya’s early dismissals. After that, Dinesh Karthik was expected to come out at bat, but Pant sent on Akshar. This decision was beyond everyone’s understanding. Akshar came out after scoring 10 points on 11 balls. Meanwhile, Karthik took the bat later and scored 30 runs on 21 balls. If Karthik could have played more balls, he could have played more innings and India’s score could have exceeded 150.

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar and South African legend Graeme Smith expressed surprise at Pant’s decision. Gavaskar said sometimes a player is marked as a finisher and only allowed to hit after 15 overs, while players like Karthik can come on the 12th or 13th over and play winning innings if necessary. Meanwhile, Graeme Smith said Dinesh Karthik has more experience than Akshar and should have been sent to pressure situations.

2. In place of Avesh, Hardik was replaced.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar performed brilliantly in Indian bowling. He took three wickets for 10 runs in the first three overs. Meanwhile, the African team was struggling. Avesh Khan also got his first over brilliantly, but Hardik was substituted in the fourth over and the pressure was taken off the African batsmen.

Ashish Nehra says Avesh shouldn’t have been taken out of bowling. His ball was swinging and in such conditions any bowler would want to bowl at least two overs.

3. Axar Patel brought to bowling late

Two right-handed batsmen were at the crease after scintillating bowling by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the Powerplay and Pant bowled by Chahal, Hardik and Harshal Patel. By the time he brought in Axar Patel, both drummers were ready. Because of this, the characters could not do any wonders. Ashish Nehra said if he had been so supportive of Axar Patel he should have trusted him and played immediately after the power play but Pant didn’t and the African batsmen were able to come back easily.

4. Didn’t give the letter a chance in front of Klaasen

Former India wicketkeeper batsman Parthiv Patel also questioned Pant regarding the use of Axar Patel. Parthiv said that in this match, Klaasen played Chahal’s spin easily, whereas against the fast bowlers he never got into trouble. In such a situation, Axar Patel could have been placed in front of him, who spins the ball around quickly, but Pant didn’t and Klaasen single-handedly took India out of the game.
